I love this. I’ve waited, what? like 2 years for you to write this sort of essay. My patience has finally been rewarded and I really look forward to reading your other ones.
I love rainy season but I think ours is a bit less rainy then yours. The thunderstorms are the worst part by far. Lightning strikes within a kilometer are pretty common and it absolutely scares the shit out of all of us. We bought protective earmuffs for the girls, it’s so frightening they’d spend an hour under a blanket.
I'm so glad you like this sort of writing so much. Your feedback has been a major motivation for me!
I'm quite reluctant to write about personal stuff, because it easily feels like self-aggrandizement to me. I'm not here to build some sort of personality cult around my public persona, or come across as some sort of self-centered wannabe guru who is showing off his unique individualistic lifestyle. Somehow I feel safer writing about more abstract topics...
But, rest assured - there's more where this one came from. People seem genuinely interested, so I'll finish the other seasons as fast as possible.
I like the personal stuff. And I think people are pretty interested in the different ways people live, especially the nitty gritty, and especially because it’s completely different to the way we’d be living in the western world with regular 9-5 jobs etc
