Do you notice that many of the fruits in Borneo do not grow (or grow well) in Thailand and Peninsula Malaysia? It is climatically similar and close by but the ecology different I guess.

Sorry, somehow I overlooked this comment!

Indeed, you have a good point. A friend in the South of Thailand has a majestic 20m-high marang tree - that NEVER fruited! We hope we're a bit luckier, since our adolescent marang (~7m) already started producing flowers this year. But our 15m-high, 20-year-old wani mango (white fleshed) from Indonesia produces on average TWO FRUITS per year, and we're still struggling to grow a single decent breadfruit tree, since they often succumb to borer attacks in the first two or three years.

Curiously, even some of the South American fruit grows a lot easier here than even many of the fruit trees native to Malaysia/Indonesia. Safou from Africa also continues to surprise us positively.
